IT Industry - Different Story

Today most of the youngsters first choice of their career is IT [Information Technology] Industry because it has lot of money and you have chances of going abroad and working there. Going abroad and living gives you greater status in society. They are so called NRI's [Non Resident Indians or Non Reliable Indians, Choice is yours]. Money is there but also is the work pressure. Its comparativerly very higher then other Industries. Most of them have to work between 14 to 16 hours a day and almost all days of week. You don't have fixed time of work or offs. To succeed in this industry, you have to give everything to it. No time for anything and your family life will also get neglected and disrupted. You can see lot of divorces of couples happening in IT Industry. Lot of them get married late in this industry and do have problem in their pregnancies also. The one of the most difficult thing is that, you will have to constantly update yourself with new softwares. Every year, something new is happening. I do work as an IT Recruiter and I have understood, Indians abroad live very difficult life. They face lot of difficulties in their career there. I have come across so many candidates, who are just sitting on the bench for months with no work. Same story in in India also, You go and ask IT employees of Top companies in India, you will come across so many people with no work and sitting idle for months and are being paid salary [Lucky One's].

If you ask youngsters the reason for joining IT Industry, Most of them say its for money. No one talks about work satisfaction. Money can be one of important reason for choosing career but shouldn't be the only reason. How do we respect IT Industry as profession, if people in that Industry are only working for money? Being a Doctor, Journalist, Teacher, Actor, Chartered Accountant, IAS Officer, Armed Forced Officer or IPS Officer sounds more respectable because people join these career for the work satisfaction there. Money automatically comes, if you work more hard and smart. I also agree, IT Industry has lot of positives and has helped reducing unemployment and has made India major Industrial force in world. IT Industry has to move on and allow other Industries also to make their mark in the country, so we can have right balance. One of the sad things is that the real estate rates are booming because of them and so is inflation. Lot of people, who are not in IT Industry are suffereing because of this. IT Industry is not that colourful. If you are planning to enter that Industry, Be prepared for lot of hard work and stress. Its a highly competitive there and you will get to feel lot of pressure. Not everybody gets chance to go abroad. You will have to be patient. IT Industry is going through crux situation both in India and USA and we can only expect this situation to go and things improve.
