Are Marks the true judgment of the students?

Today one of my cousin got his tenth standard board exams results. He is doing his tenth from cbse board. He secured seventy six percent marks, which was six percent lesser then what he expected. Her mother was very sad. Today for parents in India, anything lesser then ninety percent is not acceptable. Are the marks the true judgment of the students? One final examination can't prove the credentials, what he has performed whole year. I have completed my academics five years back but I have not understood, how it has helped it my career. All the certificates are properly kept in a file and is being not disturbed from its place in almirah. Education should help us in our career. But in India, Students study something and go on to work on something else. Our education system is in complete chaos and we need to make lot of changes in our education system.

The world needs an all rounder. We need people, who can perform multiple tasks. Students being only good at studies is not enough, they have to also be good at their debate and writing skills. They also need to be good at sports. I feel, there is need of addition of few practical subjects like Carpentry, Stitching, Ironing Clothes, Painting Room, Cooking, Gardening etc. This will really help them in their personal life in future. We also need to take out the ranking and marks systems, we need to have a grade system. Competition need to be reduced and pressure should be taken from the students. Life is full of competition but can children be kept away from the competition so that they can enjoy their age and life. Schools and colleges also need to give more value to sports also. We are short of sportsmen in our country. We also need to win medals in Olympics.

I feel, students are burdened with taking tuitions. They go for tuition for every subject. When a student is in tenth or twelfth standard, there is more hullabaloo. My cousin is state level champion in chess and is also good at cricket and shuttle and plays for his school team. He is also a district level shuttle player. He is very good at debates and quizzes and also takes part in lot of dramas. There is cupboard full of cups and trophies, which he has won. It counts more then one fifty. He travels to different places alone for playing his chess tournaments and he also knows to ride bike. This proves, he is a complete personality, who is doing really well in all spheres of life. He is completely matured for his age. Does the seventy six percent really judge his potential? Are Marks the true judgment of the students?
